This three-storey block of flats is located in the Montpelier area of Bristol. It currently comprises a 4-bedroom maisonette over the basement and ground floors, with its own entrance and garden, a two-bedroom flat on the first floor and another two-bedroom flat on the second floor. It requires a lot of refurbishment but has great potential, which is why we found ourselves in something of a bidding war for it. In the end, the selling agent recommended us to their vendor because, even though our offer was not quite as high as some others, we were known to the agent and they had assured their client we could complete within four weeks, which we did.

In terms of the refurbishment, we’re looking at a major overhaul for the maisonette, which, although dated, has some lovely original features and we know it will be a really fabulous 4-bedroom home. Both the other flats are going to be fully refurbished and we may turn the middle floor into a three bed, subject to the views of local agents as to what will give the maximum return.
